I’m Jeanette Lawrence, founder of JCL Accounting Services, and I’m passionate about helping small business owners gain financial clarity and confidence. While JCL Accounting Services is newly established, it is built on over 25 years of experience in accounting and business advisory services to support businesses like yours.
My Journey
Originally from Chihuahua, Mexico, I came to the U.S. in 1995 on a full scholarship to run track and field at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Competing as a collegiate athlete taught me the importance of discipline, strategy, and perseverance- values that have shaped my approach to work and life today.
After earning a BBA in Accounting and Finance from UTEP in 1999 and later my Master of Accountancy in 2000, I became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Texas in 2002. My journey from bookkeeping, tax and audit accounting to serving as a Controller and CFO, has given me a deep understanding of the financial challenges small businesses face at every stage. Working with companies across various industries has sharpened my ability to identify financial inefficiencies, develop strategic solutions, and provide business owners with the clarity they need to make informed financial decisions. More than just numbers, I have gained insight into how strong financial management can transform a business, allowing owners to focus on growth, stability, and long-term success.
The Purpose
Throughout my career, I noticed a common frustration among business owners working with professional firms -poor communication, unclear pricing, and a lack of personalized support. For online firms, this challenge is even greater, as interactions can often feel impersonal and transactional rather than supportive. I started JCL Accounting Services to change that. My goal is to provide reliable accounting solutions with a strong focus on client experience. At JCL, we prioritize clear, proactive communication, ensuring that our clients always understand their financial standing and the value they receive. Our transparent pricing structure eliminates uncertainty, while our dedicated approach to financial management helps business owners make informed decisions with confidence.
My Foundation
Since I was young, I have valued discipline, hard work, and continuous improvement; qualities that have driven me both in sports and in my professional career. These principles helped me achieve success in track and field as a four-time All-American and five-time WAC Champion at UTEP, compete internationally in countries as close as Canada and as far as Japan, and, more recently, earn induction into the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame. That same dedication and perseverance continue to drive me today. Since 2010, I have taken on new challenges by running marathons, including the Boston and New York Marathons. The same strategic mindset and commitment to excellence that fueled my athletic career now drives my approach to serving my clients. Just as success in sports requires preparation, precision, and long-term planning, financial success demands strategy, consistency, and adaptability. My commitment to excellence isn’t just something from my past—it’s what I bring to every client and every business I serve.
